Ghostwriting: how it works and what it costs
Short answerA ghostwriter writes your book from your ideas, interviews or notes, and you are the credited author. Because every book is different, ghostwriting is quoted individually in writing, never sold as a fixed package.

What is included
- A planning call and outline you approve
- Writing based on your voice, notes and interviews
- Agreed rounds of revision
- Written agreement that you own the finished book
What is not included
- Editing and proofreading unless quoted
- Cover, formatting and publishing setup unless quoted
- Any promise of sales
You are ready if
- You have the story or expertise but not the time to write it
You may want to wait if
- You already have a full draft. You may only need editing.
How pricing works
We give you one written quote with every item priced before work starts. Nothing is added without your written approval. See all package prices and our guide How to Read a Publishing Quote.
Questions
Who owns the finished book?
You do. Ownership is written into the agreement before work starts.
Is the price fixed?
Yes, once agreed. The quote lists the scope, word count, revisions and schedule.
Will my voice be kept?
That is the aim. We start from your notes, your interviews and samples of how you write.
